Top picks from the shop

Flatbed truck tarps are the difference between a load that arrives dry and a claim you have to explain. At Double C Canvas we stock lumber tarps with 6' and 8' drops, steel tarps with 4' drops, smoke and coil tarps, and the repair kits to keep them in service. Every tarp is sold by a crew that has been outfitting flatbedders out of Midlothian since 1994, so you can call and get a straight answer on size and weight before you buy.

I recently ordered a set of 48ft Cable Tie Downs for my trailer from Double C Canvas & Repairs, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the whole experience. The team reached out to me personally after I placed my order to confirm that I actually needed 53ft tie downs to ensure a proper fit. I really appreciated that they went above and beyond to make sure my order was correct, saving me from any issues down the line. I paid the difference over the phone, and to top it all off, the tie downs arrived even sooner than expected. The quality is top-notch – durable and built to last. I’ve been a customer of theirs for years; I previously drove all the way from San Antonio to buy cables for another truck, and those are still in perfect condition after three years of use. If you're looking for high-quality products and exceptional customer service, Double C Canvas & Repairs is the place to go. They truly care about their customers and provide products that last. Highly recommend!

Flatbed tarp FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on flatbed truck tarps from the crew that’s been tarping loads since 1994. Don’t see your question? Call the shop.

What are flatbed truck tarps used for?

Flatbed truck tarps protect open loads like lumber, steel, machinery and building materials from rain, sun, road debris and salt spray. Many shippers require a tarped load, so the right tarp keeps freight dry, damage-free and accepted at delivery.

What is the difference between a steel tarp and a lumber tarp?

Steel tarps are built for low, heavy loads like coils, sheet and pipe, and usually have a 4-foot drop with no end flap. Lumber tarps have taller 6- or 8-foot drops plus an end flap to cover tall stacked loads like lumber and building materials.

What size tarp do I need for a 48- or 53-foot flatbed?

Most drivers cover a 48' or 53' flatbed with a pair of 27-foot-long tarps that overlap in the middle. Pick the width by drop height: about 16' wide for a 4' drop, 20' for a 6' drop, and 24' for an 8' drop. Call 972-723-8000 with your load height and we'll match the size.

What is a smoke tarp?

A smoke tarp is a smaller tarp that covers the front of the load to shield it from diesel exhaust soot coming off the tractor's stacks. It's used on its own for short loads or over the nose of the main tarps on lumber and steel loads.

Where can I buy flatbed truck tarps near Dallas–Fort Worth?

Double C Canvas & Repairs at 4551 Old Hwy 67 in Midlothian, TX stocks flatbed truck tarps, cargo control and trucking supplies, open Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm. There's room for trucks up to a 140-foot RGN, or order online at dctarp.com and call 972-723-8000 for after-hours pickup.
