Risks to Material Coils during Flatbed Trucking Transportation

One of the biggest risks to the quality of raw material coils, like steel and aluminum coils, is damage during transportation. Coils shipped on flatbed trucks are typically held in place through strong chain ratchet binders, which secure the coil to the trailer bed and prevent it from shifting around during shipping. Despite this, due to the nature of delivery by road, there are always going to be risks of damage, especially to the interior diameter of the coil and its edges from shifting around a little on the bed itself. Plus, the constant metal on metal contact from the chains themselves can also damage the coils, reducing their quality and usability, as well as the chain binders themselves which reduces their repeat usability in shipping.
